Proud

Oh my son,
do you not know that when you are sad,
I am too?
For I see you hurting,
but I know that you must learn;
for that will make you stronger.

My son,
I have never left you.
From your beginning,
I was there.
With your highs,
I was there.
With your lows,
I am still here.
Can you not feel my arms around you?
Comforting you?
Consoling you?
But yet you feel alone?

You know, I cry because you are sad.
I cry because I am not there to comfort you as a father.
You have to remember that in you is me,
and I have never left you.

My son,
I love you more than myself.
You have no reason to be down,
because you have a father that is proud.

Funny People Pictures

Normally I don't post pictures of people that I do not know.  However, as I was going through my pictures tonight I could not help to laugh at a few of these pictures and I felt compelled to share.  It is funny how people automatically think you are a photographer when you have your camera out at events.  I can't believe that I have not ever posted these pictures on here before...what was I thinking?  I may have some ideas for a Halloween costume for this year.  #GroupPoop #TapNRun

Country In A City

For as long as I can remember, there has been something about the countryside that is very soothing.  So it surprised me when leaving Oxmoor Mall to find a little bit of the country in the city.  It helped me to realize that the countryside is only a few miles away.  Maybe this country boy has a chance?

Rainy Days

With every passing moment, I am learning that even rainy days has its beauty as well.  I hope that you enjoy your rainy days.  Lord knows that we can use all of the rain we can get these days.

Now, with the first picture, I will say that I never condone anyone to take pictures while in a moving vehicle.  It is very dangerous and something that I have ceased to do more and more unless I have an awesome picture that I want to take.  Otherwise, pull over where it is safe.  No Taking Pictures While Driving.

Enjoy Life; Capture Memories

One's rain ultimately leads to sunshine.
And you, my love,
whose beauty is the equivalent of a gold mine,
is the sun to my storm.

For when I am with you,
it is the real you,
that peers through the clouds to make my day start brand new.

Ode to London

What used to be?
What is?
What will become?
These are my questions.
I live the present, but await the future;
hoping that everything will be.

London, you were my Egypt and I?
Your Phoenix.
I came to you beaten, defeated, and bruised.
And you found no favor in a man contemplating himself,
Casted away on his Odyssey,
faced with his biggest fear-- failure.

So I went,
Back to the basics;
Learning how to survive in a world that was lonely.
Scared, knowing not what was ahead of me.

Now, on this evening, the 11th hour for my time with you,
I can look back and remember fondly that
London, you were my Egypt and I?
Your Phoenix.
I grew from the ashes;
sink or swim,
to stand firm and be able to shoulder life better than before.
I am thankful for the people I met and times I had
for you assisted me with my journey.

Egypt, I mean London, I will remember
Your beauty, flowing rivers of life, and your wilderness.
You gave me hope again.
Now don't get me wrong,
We did not see eye to eye during my stay,
But, you gave me experience and helped me to mature.
You gave me a second chance.
Ready for the world and what will become --
The Phoenix.

M&NF: The Morehead & North Fork Railroad

Today, I took the opportunity to take a picture of the Morehead & North Fork Railroad. This is not a topic that I am very familiar with, but I know that for the years that I have either lived or worked in Morehead that I have always noticed this abandoned train station in Clearfield off of Highway 519 tucked in the corner.  The M&NF Railroad (Morehead and North Fork Railroad) used to carry passenger cars as well as lumber and limestone.  The railroad was incorporated at the turn of the 20th century.  It appears that portions of roads leading to West Liberty is of the old railroad route, but you will be hard press to find any remnants of the railroad as most of the railroad ties and bridges have been pulled up for development over the years.

This old freight yard has seen its better days and years.  For me, it was a good opportunity to take a step back in the past to imagine the station in its glory days.  I will say that taking pictures today was kind of creepy and I should not have been by myself taking pictures (not knowing what was nearby or dwelling in the abandoned structures on the lot), but I am glad that I took the chance.  Who knows how many more years that this structure will be around.  Unfortunately, unless someone or group actually invests to preserve it, then who knows how many more years it will have left.

Support Local Farmers Markets

Support Local Farmers Markets.  If you don't, then who will???

This morning, we went to the Jeffersontown Farmers Market that opened at 8am looking for fresh vegetables, corn, and fruit for our Sangria Saturday with Shish Kabobs.  Although I am not normally an early riser on weekends, I will have to say that it was well worth it this morning.  It is a relaxing feeling walking through a Farmers Market and witnessing a system from days of old.  Below are some of the pictures from this morning...
