Just Drive

Sometimes you just have to drive.  Drive just to clear your mind and realize there is more to life than the immediate present.

He is He

What does it take to be a man?
He is expected to be strong...even when weak.
He is to be the pillar of exemplary strength;
the Rock in a rushing a river,
the Warrior into battle,
the Protector,
the Provider,
the Leader,
the Hunter.
He is Pharaoh,
He is Samson,
He is Gandhi,
He is Martin Luther King, Jr.,
He is He.

He loves God as God loves him.
This love is manifested in his relationships.
He is Father,
He is Son,
He is Brother,
He is Friend,
He is Husband,
He is He.

He stands tall, even against adversity.
Falling, never slipping, but learning.
Learning to be a better man,
Learning to make for a better tomorrow,
Learning to be a light in the dark,
Learning humility,
Learning God's loving-kindness,
Learning to rise again and never stay down.
Learning there is a higher purpose in life than the present.
Learning that...
He is He.
He has to learn to be a Man.

Birthday Weekend Night Pictures (Remix)

My birthday weekend was absolutely wonderful.  Let me say that again...my birthday weekend was ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL.   I wanted to share with you all more evening/night pictures that I took from this past weekend.  With things going on in my life currently, this was a great way to spend time with people that care about me and I them.  The black and white picture of the tree was taken moments after the clock struck midnight on June 22nd.  If you look to the distance of the railroad picture, you will see part of the Louisville skyline.  I took this shot while walking with my girlfriend and friends on Frankfort Avenue after dinner at Ramiro's Cantina (which we loved).  The great thing about these pictures and others from my birthday weekend is that I can live it all over again.  It was a great start to being 30.  I want to thank everyone for their involvement in celebrating with me (us).  I love you all.

Bridge at Dusk

I had an AWESOME birthday weekend.  It is with pleasure for me to share with you some pictures that I took while walking along the Ohio River in Louisville on the day of my birthday.  These pictures were taken at dusk after sunset with the George Rogers Clark Memorial Bridge as the backdrop.  It was a phenomenal ending to the actual day of my birthday.

My Life

This post is the last of my twenties.  In two days, I will hit the 30 mark and have completed 3 full decades of my life.  As I sit here reminiscing on my past and contemplating my future...

I am thankful for the many blessings;
I am thankful for the adversities;
I am thankful for the safety over the highways;
I am grateful for Paula Faye Parker;
I am grateful for Robert Nathaniel Parker;
I am grateful to have been raised with good Christian values.
I love my sisters, my family, my nephew, and my friends;
I love the Steve Urkel glasses, running a race without shoes, and the Airwalks;
I love the memories of Ice Potato Pie, Potato Salad, BBQ, Cut Glass Salad;
I cherish the family dinners and gatherings;
I cherish my childhood memories, coaches, teammates, and classmates;
I cherish the people that believed in me, even when I could not see it in myself;
I value the opportunities to have many people come through my life for good and well...for bad;
I value my friendships and my relationships with those close to me in life;
I value XXV, Loving Chapel, FSHS Class of '00, the Workshop, the individuals that I worked with that impacted my life.
I appreciate the loves lost and the love found;
I appreciate Franklin-Simpson High School, Centre College, Bowling Green, Morehead, Corbin...everywhere.
I appreciate my shortcomings/failures and apologize for my mistakes and the hurt that I have caused others.
I treasure the opportunities that life has presented;
I treasure the journeys in my life;
I treasure the pain and hurt in my life.
I miss my father.
I pray that I have became the man that God wants me to be;
I pray that I have became the man that my mother, father, grandmothers, grandfathers, uncles, aunts, and family friends spent the time praying for me to be;
I pray that I have been a positive light to people, a vehicle of change, and a role model.
I am blessed to BE...because of the great I AM;
I am blessed for the times shared with family and friends that are no longer here;
I am blessed to see the eve of my 30th birthday.
I can smile because I know that God loves me.

Lexington, KY...At Night / Goodfellas Pizzeria

Tonight, I want to share with you pictures from walking around downtown Lexington, KY on last Saturday night.  I hope that you enjoy these pictures as they provide me with memories of a very romantic night after leaving Trust.  The night was beautiful and the company was great, especially as we sat in front of the Fountain at Triangle Park.  We were able to share a Lady and Tramp moment as we ate pizza from Goodfellas Pizzeria.  If you are downtown, I would recommend checking out Goodfellas Pizzeria on North Mill Street.  At 2AM, you cannot beat their pizza. Just saying...., but be ready for a long line though if you are leaving a bar or club because everyone else wants a slice as well.

A Walk in Downtown Morehead

Although right now things are not as planned, I feel that sometimes you just have to make the most of a situation and keep in mind that there is a reason for everything.  Tonight, I am sharing with you pictures that I recently took while walking around in downtown Morehead, KY.   You would think that while living there for a year and half that I would have taken the time to do that.  Anyways, here are some of the pictures of downtown Morehead and couple other pictures from around town.
